What fear feels like
For me, this is what fear feels like - it is a painful, sharp pulse in my left wrist, momentary and short lived, but there and in exactly the same spot each time. Or it is a lurch of the stomach which makes the mind go blank - when I am called to an emergency meeting to hear kidnap warning or told to get off the street immediately and head back to base, or when people are shot and killed from the city where I am headed. But its fleeting, and interestingy, it rarely comes when the danger is right there; when you hear a bomb go off or a driver starts talking crazy and taking you somewhere you don't recognise there is no registering in the pulse of the left wrist then...then it is all in the mind and the stomach.
